Make up Storage

Make up storage is something I really love seeing posts about, and because it gives you an insight into what make up others are using too!
I thought it would be nice for me to do a post on how I store my make up. I'm always looking for ways to change it up.

All of my storage is in/on my chest of drawers. On top I have my Muji storage, a pot of face brushes and a pot of eye brushes, my make up bag which has all my every day make up in, and a tray of my every day beauty products. I also have my jewellery box and a vanity mirror.

The majority of my make up is stored in the top drawers of my chest of drawers.
In the large top drawer I have my face products, lip products and some mascaras.

In the drawer across from this one is my eye make up drawer. In here all my single pot eye shadows are stored, my false eyelashes, my three Naked palettes and other eye bits and bobs at the back. I'm trying to find a new way to store my single eye shadows as they look so messy at the moment!

On top of the drawers I have some muji storage which stores all of my other eye shadow palettes and an odd MAC lip liner. I also store my most used lipsticks on top, along with a jar of cotton pads and some cute Disney products.

My Current Skincare Routine

I love seeing other people's current skincare routine's and seeing what products work well for others, so I thought I would share my routine and favourites!
Firstly,my skin is oily-combination, so depending on what your skin type is they may work well for you or not. I also find that oil based moisturisers break me out, so I tend to only use gel based/oil free moisturisers.

In the morning I do a quick cleanse, tone and moisturise. I'm currently using the Mario Badescu Enzyme cleansing gel, Pixi Glow Tonic and The Body Shop Vitamin C moisturiser, I've been testing out the enzyme cleansing gel for a few weeks and I am definitely seeing an improvement in my skin. It claims to use hydroxy acid to break down the build up of dead skin cells that cause blackheads and pimples. I have noticed that since using this (and probably due to the change in weather) that I rarely am getting any spots at the moment (touch wood) so i'm pretty impressed with this cleanser!
Next I go in with my trusty Pixi toner, this is an exfoliating toner and it works so well with my morning cleanser, it seems to brighten my skin up a bit.
Lastly, I moisturise with The Body Shop Vitamin C moisturiser. This is a lovely light, day time moisturiser and I find that this sinks in really quickly and makes a lovely make up base.

In my evening routine I add in an eye cream and my Effaclar duo cream. Firstly, I go in with the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish to remove all my make up. This is my holy grail skin care product. It removes all my make up and when I rub it into my eyes to remove my mascara it doesn't make my eyes sore or sting at all, and when I remove it my skin feels so soft.
Secondly, I go in with my Lush Tea Tree toner, which is supposed to be an antibacterial due to the Tea Tree and prevent breakouts.
I then apply my Effaclar duo cream, this is another holy grail product for me. It's supposed to unclog pores and correct imperfections and it definitely does. There are a lot of mixed reviews about this product, but it has honestly worked so well for me. I only apply this to my T-zone as that's where I am most likely to get blemishes, and I then moisturise my cheeks with the Clinique moisturising gel.
I then apply my Body Shop Vitamin E eye cream.

Once a week I will use a face mask depending on what my skin is doing that week, At the moment I've been using the Lush Mask of Magnaminty mask and i'm really liking it. I also use a scrub a few times a week after my evening cleanse. My favourite to use is the Super Facialist Anti Blemish Face Scrub, I really feel this is helping my blackhead situation!

As the weather is gradually getting colder i'm going to need to pick up a thicker moisturiser, eye cream and some hydrating masks soon!

Autumn Clothing Haul

Now that it's finally got much colder I needed to update my wardrobe and put some warmer clothing in! I love autumn clothing, with cosy jumpers, blanket scarves and cute boots. So I had a little splurge.

The first place I went into was H&M, they have got some lovely winter clothing in at the moment! I was in need of a new coat and I really like the parka style ones with fluffy insides so this one was perfect! I love the burgundy colour, but you can also buy this one in blue, black, white or green here.

I also picked up a the cutest shirt in the world from H&M. A bunny shirt. After seeing someone put this on instagram I knew I had to go on the hunt for it. It's quite a sheer shirt so you do have to wear a cami underneath it but I usually have to do that with my other shirts anyway.

The next lot of stuff is from Primark. I have really been wanting a thick blanket type scarf, and Primark have loads of them for really reasonable prices! This one was my favourite as I love tartan, it has two sides to it and it was only £7!
I picked up one of their plain black long sleeved tops to wear under a cape I have been planning on buying, it was £3.
I also picked up this lovely jumper/shirt top. It has a white collar and a bit of the shirt pokes out the bottom of the jumper. It's really warm and the jumper isn't a horrible itchy material! This one was £13.
Lastly from Primark, I picked up a gold leafy ring, it's something I would never usually choose but It looked so pretty I thought I would try and make it work!

Ah Superdry. I work for Superdry alongside doing my degree, and I was in need of some new uniform bits. I picked up two shirts. I have been looking for a red and blue check type shirt for ages and I finally think I've found it! This one can be found here. The other one I picked up is a flannel shirt. I'm not really sure this one is very me, but it looked so thick and warm, and I liked the design so I thought I would give it a go. You can find it here. I also picked up some plain pocket tee's from Superdry to go underneath the shirts. here.
I have been looking for a nice cape after seeing loads of people wearing them on instagram, and I found this lovely double sided one in Superdry here, which I can't wait to wear!
I raved about Superdry underwar a few posts back so I won't in this post, but they are the comfiest pants ever!
Lastly, I picked up some floral leggings. I actually have a pair of these already with a different pattern on, they are the comfiest leggings I own! I could wear these to bed they're so comfy. I love the waistband as well, I think it's a nice detail.

I ordered some black skinny high waisted jeans from Asos here. I don't own any black skinny jeans and I thought they would go well with shirts and capes, and be much warmer than leggings for the colder months!
I also picked up some beauuuutiful boots from Miss Selfridge here. I love the gold detailing on them and the snake skin detail. However, these are pretty hard to walk in, with them being pointed at the front and there being no platform, and quite a large heel. I'm hoping I'll learn to walk in them! Ha.

I'm hoping to do an Autumn look book post soon with a few other things!

My favourite A/W lipsticks

Autumn is my favourite season of the year! It means spicy candles, cosy duvet evenings, warm scarves and dark lippy's!
I love a dark lip in the autumn so I've picked out a few of my faves!

L-R
  • Rimmel Kate Moss nude collection- no.48. This is a dark brown with a slight hint of red. I really love the lipsticks from this range they feel so moisturising and yet are so pigmented. I wrote a blog post about a few things from the Kate Moss nude collection a while back here.
  • Kiko Rebel Romantic- no 06. This one is probably my second favourite of the 4! Firstly the packaging is beautiful! The colour is a lovely deep berry and I found this lipstick has amazing staying power and pigmentation.
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine- 112. This is my most luxurious lipstick. It's a more red sort of berry colour as opposed to purple. It definitely has an amazing shine to it as well, however, considering how much it was the staying power isn't great and neither is the pigmentation. Still a lovely colour nevertheless.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss- no.107. My favourite of them all! This have been my favourite lipstick since Zoella introduced me to it about 3 years ago! The lasting power, pigmentation and matte formula are all amazing. It's such a lovely colour for the colder months.

Rimmel Kate Moss Nude Collection

The other day I went into Boots to buy some mini shampoos and shower gels for my holiday, I ended up spotting the new Kate Moss Nude Collection, swatching all the colours and totally forgetting what I came in for. It happens to us all right? I bought two of the nail polishes and two of the lipsticks. Boots are also having a 'buy one get one half price' on all Rimmel items at the moment!

The dark nude nail varnish I bought is in the colour 'Soul Session' and this is definitely my fave out of the two. I don't actually own any nude nail varnishes but now I know what i've been missing out on! Soul Session is a browny toned pink. I put three coats of this on and I found that the polish dried pretty quickly and evenly, usually when I apply three coats of nail varnish it takes most of the day to fully dry!

The next shade of nail varnish I bought was 'Bare Yourself', this is the closest colour that I can describe as nude, and is slightly peachy toned. The formulation of these nail varnishes was just lovely, they go on nicely and don't leave patches or feel sticky. They are also both very pigmented. However, you definitely would need more than one coat of these. Both of these nude colours would go with any outfit and would definitely complement a tan.

I decided to get one lipstick that was a light nude and one that was a dark nude. The light nude is number 45 and is a lovely pinky nude. It's a cross between MAC's 'Brave' and 'Creme Cup'. The darker nude is number 48 and it's a lovely deep brown with a slight red tint. The formulation of these lipsticks is lovely, I feel like they make my lips feel really moistured and the colour lasts a long time. Both colours are really pigmented and such lovely shades.
I now want to own the whole collection!

Autumn Home Haul

Over the past month I have been buying little bits here and there for my bedroom. I'm really liking copper and candles for autumn at the moment, and it seems there are loads of great home section's in clothes stores at the moment!

I needed a lamp for my new desk and have had my eye on this one for a while, it's called the Copperfield lamp and it's from Homebase here. It's really bright and adds a nice touch to my desk.
I picked up two things from H&M home, the marble pot here ,and the copper waste bin here. H&M have got a really lovely home section, and it's all reasonably priced! I've got two of the marble pots now and I use one for face brushes and the other for eye brushes.

I picked up three things from Primark. I bought the room diffuser, which was £1! I also picked up the copper '&' sign to go with the copper theme, which was only £4. Lastly I picked up the marble pot of fake flowers which was £2, I think these will look lovely in the background of photo's. Primark have some really cheap and lovely home bits at the moment.

Candles, candles, candles. This is one of my favorite things about autumn, dark evenings burning spicy candles. I picked two up from Primark, the Earl Grey copper one, as it goes with my copper theme and I thought the flame would look lovely flickering in the copper inside, this was £2 and the glass jar candle was £2.50. I'm definitely going to be saving the pot of this one after the candle has been used, it's so pretty!
The other two candles are from Bath & Body Works. I ordered these off Ebay as sadly we don't have one in the UK and they don't ship to the UK either :(! These are mini ones and they were about £4 each. I bought a  Banana nutmeg bread pudding one, and a sweet cinnamon pumpkin one, and they both smell divine, I cant wait to burn these!

Currently Loving

I've been so busy this month on placement that I haven't had time to write a blog post for a while! I have a few hauls ready to blog about though so stay tuned!

This month I have been working 48 hour weeks with being on placement at the hospital and working at Superdry, so when I've come home I have just wanted to have a bit of pamper time and get into bed!
I've been watching The Originals on Netflix a lot, and i'm obsessed! It's been on my to-watch list for ages and it has not disappointed me!It is so much better than The Vampire Diaries! I also recently purchased Gone Girl on DVD and I really like it, i love the plot twist!

As the weather's getting colder my skin is getting slightly dryer. I've been trying out the Super Facialist Anti Blemish Face Scrub, as I've really been in need of a face scrub directed at removing dead skin cells and drawing out impurities. As this scrub has salicylic acid in it, it does just that. It's quite a harsh scrub so I wouldn't recommend it on really dry and sensitive skin, mine is more on the combination-oily side and it works really well! This is my new holy grail face scrub!

I've also been using the Montagne Jennesse Sensuous Spice Self Warming Mask. Firstly, this product smells amazing, it smells like gingerbread men,it's perfect for autumn! I really like self warming masks, I find they give a deeper cleanse and work much better at drawing impurities out of my skin. I think it was around £3, so a total bargain!

My lips have also been getting a lot dryer this month, so I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought an EOS lip balm. I got the coconut milk one and it smells amazing. I love the shape of this balm as it's much more hygienic to roll it on, rather than sticking your finger in a pot of Vaseline!

Comfy underwear are a must for me while i'm working such long days, and I really love the Superdry college briefs. They are hands down the comfiest pants ever! They feel so soft, and I love the waistband. I recently picked up this double pack and I think the design is so cute!

On my one day off a week I really like to put effort into my make up, and seeing as it's coming into autumn I have been loving my trusty Kate Moss 107 lipstick and the Too Faced Boudoir eyes palette. They both pair together really well and create a lovely autumnal look.

Lastly, I have been loving these hair bands. Where I have my hair up in a bun a lot my hair used to pull with normal hair bands, and I would have a really sore scalp when I would take my hair down. With these coil hair bands that isn't the case! they hold my hair so well in place and they don't pull on my hair at all. I also don't have a huge kink after I've taken it out of a pony tail! I got these from Primark for £1 for a set of 8 I think! You can also buy the branded one's called Invisi bobbles!

Hope you guys are having a good October so far!
