Kiko- Rebel Romantic

I have been dying to pick up some things from the new Kiko Rebel Romantic range! I like swatching products though to see the proper colours before I buy products. I recently went to London and finally got to buy some!

I have been lusting over the contour kit since the collection first came out, my make up collection is missing a cream stick highlighter and bronzer! I picked up the medium to dark set as I like my cheekbones to be really defined. I think these are both really lovely products, the bronzer can be a little hard to blend but when it is blended it is lovely! The highlighter on the other hand, blends really nicely, and you can build it up to your desired intensity.

I picked up one of the lipsticks in the range in the shade 06, which is a lovely berry tone and perfect for Autumn! This lipstick is so pigmented and has really good staying power, which is great for nights out! I wouldn't say the texture was moisturising but I wouldn't say it was drying either, and the packaging is just beautiful.

Lastly, I picked up one of the metallic shine eye shadow pots in the shade 02. This is a metallic light pink shade with silver undertones. The texture is cream to powder and it blends so well into your eyelid. However, I found that I had to build this colour up quite a bit as it comes out quite sheer on your eyes, and gives a tiny wash of colour. This was the only product I was a bit let down with! The prices of the range are pretty reasonable considering how gorgeous the packaging is.
I've included some swatches below, L-R Highlight, Bronzer, Lipstick, Eye shadow.

Real Techniques- Bold Metals

I am so late on this bandwagon! Boots were recently doing a 25% off of the new Real Techniques Bold Metals collection so I decided to finally cave and buy a few!
I was massively drawn into them by how pretty they look and how great they would look with my other brushes.
I really wanted a rose gold one from the collection as they look so luxurious!  I was originally going to pick up the flat contour brush but I already have a rose gold Zoeva one of those, so I picked up the other rose gold one, which is the 300 tapered blush brush.  This is a really good brush for being precise with your blush and is so soft and lovely to work with. However, I much prefer using this to put highlighter on with as it is so precise and the top edges of the brush are the perfect shape for the top of your cheekbones.

The other brush I picked up is the 201 pointed crease brush. I already have a few Zoeva crease brushes so I wanted to see how this one compared to them. This one goes perfectly into the crease due to the point, it blends really well and doesn't feel harsh on the eyelid. I really think this is just as good as my Zoeva crease brushes and it's handy to have a few crease brushes, so you don't have to keep washing them all the time!
I am really impressed with these brushes, I want them all! The only negative to them is that they are pretty expensive, especially when you can buy a set of 8 Zoeva brushes for £50! Nevertheless I still really like them. Well done Sam and Nic :-)

Summer Reads

Over summer I always do lots of reading. I went away for a week and took some books and I've been reading a lot before bed recently too.
The first book I've read over summer has been Gone Girl. I watched this in the cinema when it first came out and I didn't really know what to make of it. I always prefer the book to the film in these situations so I decided to give the book a go. If you don't know what it's about, basically it's about a woman who goes missing but she isn't actually missing, she's plotting revenge on her husband. The book is so gripping I couldn't put it down, it was definitely better than the film, I loved it!

The next book I read was The Beginning of Everything. This book is about a boy who goes through a few tragedies in one day and then he meets a girl who changes things for him. I'd heard the book was a lot like John Green's books, but it really wasn't, which was disappointing!  I'm not sure if I liked this one or not! It was very slow in parts and the ending wasn't what I was expecting at all, but I know it had a lot of good reviews on Amazon! This was probably my least favourite book I read over summer.

My favourite book I read over summer is definitely The Girl On the Train. It was AMAZING. The whole story line is great, and so gripping! It's about a woman who commutes everyday to work, she passes the same couple on the train everyday and one day she sees something that changes everything. I really didn't expect the ending but it was brilliant. I love thriller books like this.

I also read To Kill a Mockingbird. I never read this at school and I have heard so many mixed reviews about it, and with a second one coming out I decided to read it. This was such a strange book.  It's about race and class in the 1930's, with the main theme about a black man who is charged with rape. When I first started reading it I thought the story line at first was going to be more about Boo Radley who lives in this creepy house near the children, but a quarter of the way through it changes direction onto another topic. The ending was a little disappointing too.

Amazon suggested We Were Liars for me to read based on other books I had bought on there. To sum it up it's about a girl and her cousins who go on holiday every summer to Beechwood Island, but one year a tragedy happens and things aren't the same. It's about mystery, friendship and love. The book is so cleverly written and the ending is so shocking, I really didn't expect it coming!
